C. Carter Glass is a long time resident of Butchers
Hill. Since taking early retirement from state service he has re-dedicated
himself to his vocation as an artist. Carter works in a variety
of media including oil paint, collage, clay, and papier-mâché.
His favored pieces; however, are his mixed media constructions.
Having been collected privately his work has now become generally
available following a pubic showing in September of 2001 at Simon’s
Pub in Butcher’s Hill. His work has also been seen at The
American Visionary Museum, Unicorn Gallery and at other local venues.
Carter extends his skills and knowledge with Continuing Studies
in Fine Arts at Maryland Institute College of Art; he is an active
member of The Creative Alliance; and participates in School 33,
School of the Arts programs. Carter’s work spans a gamut of
emotions from the painfully personal to the humorously quirky, and
has been described as provocative and mysterious - terms with which
Carter would certainly agree.
