Meeting Notes
General Meeting
03/02/2005
Meeting started with a welcome from Dave and an introduction of new neighbors.
General Business:
Carolyn Boitnott - Crime Prevention Committee
The Crime Prevention Committee is held the 3rd Wednesday of every month
at Carolyn's house. They are looking for new block reps. There will be an
event planned to coordinate the reps - to be announced later.
Dave Dyer
Committee Chairs must have their budgets submitted by the next Executive Committee meeting to be held 3/15/2005.
Rick Gilmour
There are concerns related to the demolition of the Pratt St. property.
There is a significant lead load in the building. Rick tried to determine
what the city's responsibility was in this area. He called the Health
Department, and couldn't get an answer. He wrote a letter to Jim Kraft
requesting assistance in ensuring that the developers follow the same rules
as the biotech development - keeping the lead in an envelope. There are
special concerns with Ronnie's grocery store. The lead can easily be
tracked into the store. He contacted the Coalition to Prevent Lead
Poisoning in Children. They gave him lots of information. Barry Glassman
suggested that he contact the state to see what assistance they could give him.
Friends of Patterson Park Presentation:
Lesley Gardner
There is one director and three part-time staff. The rest of the people are volunteers.
The pagoda will be open from April 16th through the first week in November.
The Friends of Patterson Park volunteers will be organized a little differently this year. There will be four teams:
The Boat Lake Team will consist of Boat Lake Guides, who will educate
visitors about the lake; and the Boat Lake Clean Up Crew, who will clean up the
lake and the surrounding area. There will be a clean-up the first Saturday of
every month. Everyone is welcome.
The Pagoda Team will consist of the Pagoda Docents, who will greet
visitors; and the Pagoda Maintainers, who will clean up around the pagoda.
They will meet the second Sunday of every month.
The Tree Team will plant trees. They plan to plant over 100 trees this
year, and will take care of the existing trees. There will be tree planting
the 4th Saturday of every month. The first meeting and workday will be
Saturday, April 23.
The Detail Detail will take care of everything else in the park. They will
paint benches, bill the dog bag holders, and weed flower beds. Their first
meeting will Wednesday, March 16th at 6:30.
Everyone interesting in volunteering should contact Lesley at 410-276-3676 or
by email.
Spring Plants Presentation:
John Lucas - Home Depot
John gave an interesting presentation on shrubs, plants and trees. He answered many questions.
