EVENTS FOR CHILDREN

Here are some events in the Baltimore area for children that didn't fit into the neighborhood newsletter. Thanks to Patty Clark for compiling the information.

  • Enrich you child's summer downtown... Every Sunday at 2pm, during the summer Family Fun hands-on activities are available at the Baltimore Museum of Art. There is a minimal charge and reservations are recommended. See www.artbma.org or call 443-578-1818.

  • Preschoolers to high schoolers can enjoy activities at the Walter Art Gallery. See www.thewalters.org/programs_art_museums/programs_family_programs.aspx or call 410-547-9000 x373 to register your child.

  • Creative Kids Camps at Adkins Arboretum (See above). The Arboretum's camps are state certified. Space is limited. Visit www.adkinsarboretum.org for more information, or call 410-634-2847 to request a brochure or register. Too old to attend Creative Kids Camps? consider becoming a volunteer counselor. You must be at least 16 years of age and willing to work a full week of camp. Training will be provided.   • Summer School Enrichment Program at Commodore John Rogers School at 100 N. Chester, June 25th - August 3rd, 7:45am-1:45pm. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Enrichment programs in reading and math as well as arts and crafts, and recreation will be provided. Fridays there will be special activities. Applications are available in the school office.

  • Saturday, June 2nd, 11am-4pm community Health Fair sponsored by the Baltimore Chapter of Les Gemmes, Inc. at the Ralph J. Young Recreation Center, off the 2000 block E. Fairmount.

  • Saturday, June 30th, Family Fun Festival, 2pm-7pm, on the Commodore John Rodgers School playground off the 2000 block E. Fairmount. Live performances, music, food, face painting, moon bounce, arts and crafts, dancing, charity basketball and much more. Contact the Door at 410-675-3288.

  • Saturday, June 2nd, 10am-1pm (rain date June 9), Fishing Festival, Patterson Park. Activities will include, make-your own t-shirt with Audubon, Backyard Bass Betsy the Bigmouth Bass, Fish in a Tub, Animal Balloons, Fishin'Hole in One and REAL fishing in the Patterson Park Boat Lake.   • Fishing Rodeo - Every Thursday, 6pm, throughout May and June join Rec & Parks at the Boat Lake in Patterson Park. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
